Halloween for kids in Amsterdam!

Traditionally, Halloween is not celebrated in Dutch households. But with the world becoming such a small place, we have been seeing a lot of Halloween celebrations in the past few years. As Halloween becomes more and more popular, there are many events happening around us. While Halloween falls on October 31, most of the events take place over the weekend that follows it. We have compiled a list of fun activities in and around Amsterdam for you!

Hard Rock Café Lil Monsters Ball: Breakfast buffet for the whole family and lots of activities for the little ones including scary face painting, spooky kids mini disco, Halloween Fancy Dress Competition. There is even a Trick or treat on the square (this was our son’s favourite last year). We have done this one for 2 years and enjoyed it. You do have to get there pretty early around 9.30 AM on a Sunday though. Get your tickets on the HRC website here.

Spooktacular by Ams Mamas: One of a kind, this Halloween parade is perfect for the little ones. 9 years running, kids and parents dressed up for costumes start the parade at 10:30 in the Beatrixpark. After a fun parade, they can enjoy the playground, jump around on bouncy castles - Sunday, October 27, 2019 - 10:30 to 12:30. Fun if the weather is right, since it’s completely outdoors.

Halloween party at Boerderij Elsenhove: This one is another of our regulars every year. The event also takes place on October 27 from 2 PM onwards. There will be face painting, pumpkin carving, creepy storytelling and a nice festive atmosphere around the farm. No entry charges Tip: It gets super busy here and if you reach too late, there will be no more pumpkins to be carved so it’s a good idea to get there early.

Halloween climbing activity at Fun Forest, Amsterdam: Saturday, October 26 between 7 and 11 PM at the Fun Forest in Amsterdamse Bos, this one can be done by adults as well as kids more than 1.30 metres in height. Buy your tickets here.

Cobra Museum, Amstelveen: The Mexicans celebrate Dia de los Muertos to celebrate and honor their loved ones in the after life. On Saturday, 26th October, kids can create their own Mexican fantasy figure on between 14:00 – 16:00 during the Mexican workshop atthe Cobra museum in Amstelveen.

Zomerbloemen Pluktuin: Discover the inner wizard/witch inside you at the Zomerbloemen Pluktuin, the flower picking garden at Nes A/d Amstel this Saturday, October 26 at the Halloween party. More fun if you already go dressed up as one 😊

Are you ready for some spooky fun this Halloween!
